When COVID-19 first reached the US, I jumped into collective care mode.
As a mental health justice activist and the co-leader of 3 therapist communities, I’m privileged to support marginalized communities in need of mental health care AND therapists extending care during crisis.
Supporting Our Communities
My communities jumped into action to respond to the rise of mental health care needs and the plunging economy. We knew that marginalized communities would be impacted most severely. We needed to rise up collectively, as government aide is insufficient or inaccessible.
Myself and my people have created a number of initiatives such as converting quickly to telehealth, Inclusive Therapists’ reduced-fee therapy offerings, trainings and workshops to prepare and care for therapists, as well as tend to racial trauma exasperated by this crisis.
I am humbled and grateful that Hello Alice recognized my and my communities’ efforts by awarding me the $10K COVID-19 Business for All Emergency Grant. I will allocate it towards increasing mental health care access to underserved and marginalized communities during COVID-19 and beyond.
Thank you Hello Alice for recognizing our efforts, and to each of you that supported and encouraged me along the way.
